Hand-woven Jute Tote Bag

Lakshmi Devi learned the art of jute weaving from her grandmother when she was just 12 years old. After her husband's passing in 2015, she became the sole provider for her three children.

What started as a survival skill became her passion and her purpose. "When I weave, I feel connected to my grandmother, to our village's history. Each pattern tells a story," she says.

Through Craft Revival Trust, Lakshmi now leads a group of 15 women weavers. Together, they've revived traditional Bengali patterns that were on the verge of being lost forever.

"When someone buys our bags, they're not just buying a product. They're keeping our culture alive. They're helping my daughter go to college. They're proof that traditional skills still matter in this modern world."

Her dream? To establish a weaving school in her village so that the next generation doesn't have to leave their homes to find dignified work.
